Message: TODAY'S RATE FORECAST: NEUTRAL Jobs: Weekly jobless claims this morning 234K -19K from last week’s increase due to the shutdown. Claims were thought to be 223K. Claims by former Federal workers totaled nearly 6,700 in the week, a decrease of more than 8,000 from the prior week. Though the 4-week average for initial claims is up 4,500 to 224,750 for the second rise in a row, the level is tracking only several thousand higher than mid-January which is an early and favorable indication for February's labor conditions.
